Twisted Century Club Circus
First impressions are important, and this is only amplified with the first event for a new client (particularly when they have booked more than one with us).
After an enquiry about a Christmas part turned into 3 potential events, we knew we had to impress and this started with their spring party in April…
As blessed as we are to live in the wonderful city that is London, we are not blessed when it comes to the awful British weather. This makes spring/summer venues particularly hard to find. Clients always want somewhere with outside space, if it’s sunny but with that valuable contingency when it takes a turn for the worst. What could be a more perfect solution to this problem than the retractable rooftop terrace at the Century Club?
Not only does it lend itself well to a spring party given the decor, its centrally located and (being a members club) offers only the best in service.
This client plans three events throughout the year as a thank you to staff, and when they say Thank you they really mean it! We wanted to transform the space and after making our way through a number of themes, settled on a twisted night circus.
One of our trusted theming suppliers put together a shopping list of decor and props which the client could choose from. With the space already having a natural central point with incredible festoon lighting and exposed steel bars, the room was perfect for this theme.. We created a big top using black and purple ribbon from the central point of the room. Lanterns were brought in and filled with LED candles. We clothed the tables in rich purples and sparkly blacks, dressing the tables with candelabras and pears. Birdcages were filled with large taxidermied crows, which spilled out red roses full of black and purple butterflies.
As well as theming we focused on entertainment. To add to the magical and mystical atmosphere, we brought in a fortune teller to enchant the guests as well as a Caricaturist to give them a memento to take with them when they left. We transformed one area within the venue into a ‘Witchy Corner’ where Mama Moon, a genuine witch & spiritual healer, sat with guests and made them ‘spells’ to take away to tackle particular areas of their life. After cleansing their lives with the aromatic spices and oils Mama Moon used, guests could then travel over to the bar and take part in a cocktail making class with the venues expert barmen.
The piece de resistance of entertainment were the Rockaoke band. This group of talented musicians invites guests up on stage to perform their favourite sing-along-songs to the rest of the guests. Doing two sets, guests were originally slightly apprehensive, with the MC keeping guests entertained with his stand-up-comedy-like routine. By the second set, a little later in the evening, there was a long list of guests that wanted to get up there and belt out a song or three.
The guests had an extensive list of cocktails to keep themselves quenched, as well as fine wines, beers and champagne. They had a large selection of canapes and bowl foods, including truffle and wild mushroom cones, Brixham crab with Yuzu gel, dry aged roast beef with mash potato and shitake caramel – not to mention the mini chocolate tarts and lemon and strawberry sorbet cones.
Once the rockaoke band has finished their final set, guests continue to party the night away to their specially designed playlist.
We loved transforming this venue into the client’s dream party, this is what they had to say:
“What a fantastic night! We all had an absolute blast. Definitely a lot of sore heads this morning, and I still have glitter on my face! Always the sign of a great night. Thank you so much. Was just brilliant!”
